Description

Lionfish painted in watercolour, which softens an animal that is not soft.

The design

Loose wet edges, a pale blue wash behind, and four or five lionfish drifting through it in rust and cream. The spines are drawn wet enough that they bleed slightly into the water.

Lionfish have spread across the Atlantic and the Caribbean where nothing eats them. Painting an invasion gently is a deliberate contradiction, and the piece is better for not resolving it.

Wearing it

A soft wash needs a pale ground or the edges harden, so Natural and White are the right calls here. Midweight organic cotton at 5.5 oz, regular fit.

What if something is wrong with it?

If it arrives damaged, defective or misprinted, send us photos within 30 days and we replace or refund it at no cost to you. Because each one is made to order we cannot take returns for a change of mind, and orders can be cancelled within two hours of being placed.
